Post-Employment Services

This study identified the range of post-employment services that California’s 58 counties provided to welfare recipients.

In 2000, MDRC surveyed all county CalWORKs agencies and Workforce Investment Boards to assess the counties' current and planned post-employment services. MDRC collected information from welfare and workforce agency officials on barriers that clients face in keeping jobs and advancing in careers; the type and scale of job retention and advancement services provided; the perceived effectiveness of these services; and the extent to which these agencies are collaborating with other agencies and service providers. MDRC also asked respondents to identify the job retention and advancement services that are provided to CalWORKs participants before and after they begin working.
